Integrated Movement Therapy

What I have for years been calling “Private Yoga,” but the name no longer feels appropriate for the way my private clients and I have been working lately… So, now I offer “Integrated Movement Therapy.” I like it!

An integrated movement therapy session may include techniques and approaches from the various modalities listed below. Movement based sessions are usually done on your yoga mat. I work with clients and tailor sessions to meet their unique needs and goals whether it be core and mobility work so they can run marathons into their 70’s, move out of chronic back pain, improve their golf game or just a really great, bespoke 1:1 yoga session with lots of great assists.

What I offer

Private Yoga

Self MFR

What to Expect

Initial Phone Consult

Not sure if an integrated movement therapy session is right for you? The easiest first step is to schedule a 15 minute phone call with me to discuss what you’re looking for and to determine if my approach is the right fit for you.

Intake + Postural Analysis

The first meeting will usually consist of a verbal intake and postural and range of motion assessments. I will ask you about your injury and body history (work, sports, hobbies, past injuries, etc). I will take time to assess your posture, passive and active range of motion and maybe even take a look at your gait cycle.

Session

If you are used to a public yoga class, a private session can often feel quite different, especially if you’re seeking integrated movement therapy for more therapeutic benefits. There may be less “flow” to the session and it will often be more focused on what you are needing to work on, with targeted stretching/MFR, body awareness exercises, core and strength training depending on what your body specifically needs that session.

For best results, I may recommend a little bit of homework! Usually just a simple pose or exercise or MFR spot for you to work with on your own for 5-10 minutes each day between sessions. This can make a big difference in creating lasting results from your 1:1 work.

“As a die-hard athlete dealing with crippling back pain, Danielle has been an absolute lifesaver!  Over the past 3 years I’ve worked with every type of medical, physical and psychological specialist there is, and Danielle’s detailed knowledge of yoga, anatomy and biomechanics, myofascial release, breathing and relaxation, and overall function and mobility is as impressive as any of them.  I work with her privately a minimum of 3 days per week, and she has an incredible ability to use her multidisciplinary expertise to customize every session, seemingly down to each individual muscle fiber.  She is consistently able to identify and solve complex issues, and has brought me back to athletic performance levels that seemed completely impossible 6 months ago. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am of everything she has done for me, and how impressed I am with her expertise.”
